A RUMOUR DENIED. [Per Press Association.] September, Sept. 2. “It is the first I have heard of it; there is no foundation in the suggestion,” said the Prime Minister (Rt. Hon. Sir Joseph Ward) on Saturday night when his attention was called to a current rumour regarding a reallocation of Ministerial portfolios. It had been suggested that after the present session of Parliament was over Sir Joseph Ward intended to hand over ihe portfolio of Finance to the Hon. W. B. Taverner (Minister of Railways and Minister of. Customs), and to transfer the Railways portfolio to [lie Hon W. A. Veitch (Minister of Labour and Minister of Transport). In categorically denying the rumour, the Prime Minister said he could nut understand how such an impression had gained currency.
