CENTRAL H.B. UNION. FIRST MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEETING. (Special Representative.) The first meeting this season of the management committee of the Central Hawke’s Bay Rugby Football Sub-Union was held at Waipukurau on Monday night, the chairman (Mr. E. A. Goodger) presiding over Messrs R. B. Ricketts (Old Boys), James Ashby (Otane-Takapau), W, Adams (Waipukurau), J. Macfarlane (Onga Onga), and Gavin Black (secretary). It was resolved to hold the subunion's annual meeting at Waipukurau on Wednesday, April 27, 1929. A request from the Pirate Club, Napier, that the medals won at the seven-aside tournament be engraved was declined as the function had been run for the benefit of the injured plovers’ fund. The Central Hawke’s Bay branch of the N.Z. Educational Institute acknowledged receipt of a further donation of £3 and thanked the union for the generous help given to school football. The headmaster of To Ante College acknowledged receipt of £l2 3 T and thanked the committee for the assistance. Appreciative reference to the secretary’s services was also made. The chairman paid a tribute to the valuable services rendered by Mr. W. Adams, who had procured material and had erected a substantial picket fence at small cost to the union. Referring to the state of the playing field the chairman said it would be necessary to have some of the larger stones raked off, before the ground was heavily rolled. It would be inadvisable to place the ten-ton roller on the ground until this were done. The question of a grandstand and dressing shed was discussed at length, sewerage playing a prominent part in the question. It was thought that it would be far cheaper l to erect the dressing rooms and conveniences separately from tire grandstand. With regard to the erection of a suitable stand a sub-committee comprising the chairman, secretary and Messrs Ashby and Adams was set up to go into the matter and report to a meeting of the committee to be held in a week’s time. FINANCES. The secretary stateff that the bank account showed a credit balance of £lO5, and of £9O on fixed deposit. The chairman considered the union had come through last season very well, notwithstanding the trip to Taihape, which had resulted in a substantial loss. It was gratifying to find that after setting aside £l2 for the injured players’ fund a good credit balgance remained. He paid a tribute to the work carried out by the secretary. Accounts amounting to £2 13/were passed for payment. A statement was submitted by the focal Borough Council showing that the net receipts frhm Russell Park during last season amounted to £lll 5/4, of that sum the union received £74 16/6. and the council’s share was £36 8/10.
