PAKI PAKI.
(Own Correspondent). The monthly meeting of the School Committee was held in the school on Friday last. Present: Messrs. Anderson (chairman), Barclay, Caskey. Kurikino, Betley and the headmaster. The headmaster reported a roll of 132, with an average attendance of 120. This is only one below the number required to secure an additional assistant. The Education Board is forwarding additional desks required. The- meeting discussed the year’s operations and prepared the financial 'statement to be forwarded to the Board. This showed the finances to be in a satisfactory position and the committee is to be congratulated upon a very successful year’s work. Sympathy was expressed to Mr. Betley, the secretary, in the serious illness of his young child and hopes expressed for his early return to health. During this week it is hoped to take about 40 of the pupils to Hastings to obtain swimming certificates. Instruction has been given for some time and it is hoped that many of the children will he able to, swim the required distances.
