Captain V. C. White-Parsons, a visitor to Auckland from Christchurch, was admitted to hospital with somewhat serious head injuries, having been knocked down by a motor car while crossing Manakau road at 11.30 o’clock last night. An operation will probably be necessary. Captain White-Parsons resigned last year from service in the New Zealand Shipping Co.
Jean Frances Ryan of Auckland, aged 11 years, sustained a fractured skull through falling from a tramcar. She is in hospital ana her condition is serious..
Antonia Raffalo Crandi, aged 60, was killed on his farm at Ngarua, Hauraki Plains, yesterday when haystacking. a pole falling and crushing his head and chest. He died before the doctor arrived A similar accident occurred at Waihou on Saturday, when John Barker, aged 17, had a leg and arm badly crushed, the leg later having to be amputated.
Entangled in a leading rope, a girl aged 17 years, Myrtle Patterson, the only child of Ralph and Mrs Patterson, of Marsden Point, Whangarei Harbour, was dragged round a paddock by a horse, sustaining terrible injuries including a,broken neck. She was picked up dead. The tragedy occurred at 2 p.m. yesterday.
By the capsizing of a metal lorry over a bank on the Towai-Kawakawa road,- Whangarei, early this morning Roy Wilson, a young single man. sustained injuries which culminated in his demise when being conveyed to Kawakawa Hospital. Wilson was pinned beneath the vehicle and not extricated until a considerable time later.
A nasty accident occurred this afternoon at the intersection cf Carlyle -street and a small street running into Thackeray street, Napier, when Walter Watson, who was riding a bicycle, was struck by a car driven by William Smillie Frame, electrician. Carlyle street. It appears that Watson, who was crossing the intersection, was caught by Frame, who was proceeding down Carlyle street on his proper side. Watson immediately receive*! mo.limd attention He was found to be suffering from shock and minor bruises. The cycle was completely wrecked.
