A new site in Lambton Quay below i arnaiuent Buildings has been offered, and accepted for the citizens’ v.ar memorial in Wellington. Tho groupd at present is covered by shops but tho Government and the City Council between them intend to purchase and clear a number pf buildings away partly for tramway purposes apd partly to improve the approaches to Parliament House. It is portion of this area that will be given up to the memorial.
Developments in Pace case: The newspapers emphasise that Mrs. Pace is not affected by the new police inquiries, which are believed to be directed to questions of alleged perjury and conspiracy arising out of the inquest and trial. Mrs. Pace is now living quietly with her children in Gloucester. She regrets the renewed prominence of the case, but realises that the developments cannot affect her innocence, which was finally established.
