CHURCH NOTES.

Our readers are reminded of the Gospel service to be conducted by Mr Gedge in the Nelson Street Hail on Sunday evening at 7 o’clock. A hearty welcome is extended to all. The subject of the address to be given in the Orange Hall, Hastings, on Sunday night will be, “The Eternal Purpose of God as Revealed in the New Testament.” To-morrow’s services at the Baptist Church will be conducted by the Rev. T. Keith Ewen. “The Comfort of the Rod and Staff” will be his morning service topic, Communion to follow, and in the evening, “The Blind Man’s Opportunity.” Strangers are cordiallyinvited.

The Rev. D. J. Shaw will be the preacher in St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church to-morrow. In the morning a Baptismal Font, presented by Mrs Paul, in memory of her husband, will be unveiled and dedicated. In the evening the preacher’s sermon subject will be, “Does Church-going Matter Much?” Strangers and those with no definite niece for churchgoing in their programme are specially invited.

The Rev. W. J. Oxbrow is announced to preach in the Hastings Methodist Church to-morrow. The order of service in the morning will include an address,. “Peace as a River,” an anthem by the choir and male quartet, and an anthem by the junior choir, “In the Morning of Life We Are Singing.” In the evening the subject of the address will be “Sin, the Detective. The choir will render “Seek Ye the Lord,” soloist, Mr J. Common. The Sacrament will lie administered at the close of the evening service and new members will be received into the church.
