THEATRE AND SHOPS DESTROYED. EARLY MORNING OUTBREAK AT CHEVIOT. [Per Press Association.) Christchurch, May 29A disastrous fire at Cheviot early this morning destroyed four shops and a picture theatre. No fire-fight-ing plant was available and the residents had simply to stand by a nil watch the fire burn. The shops destroyed belonged to the Farmers’ Co-op. Association, Glesson (fancy goods). Cone Brothers (butchery), T. West (boot shop). The theatre was owned by J. Pruden.
