ARARATA TRAGEDY
CAUSE OF FIRE UNKNOWN. FUNERAL OF VICTIMS TOOK PLACE TO-DAY. [Per Press Association.] Hawera. May 26. N o additional facts have been discovered concerning the tragedy which overwhelmed the Waller family early yesterday morning in their lonely cottage at Ararata. The bodies of the victims were brought to town during the dav the funeral taking place U>ig afternoon. The cause of the fire is unknown. It i s difficult to explain the position of the father’s body in the kitchen unless as is suggested he got up to make a cup of tea. as was his custom. The kitchen stove was encased in an iron chimney. This and the kerosene lamp seem the only likely sources of the outbreak, but al] ig a matter of conjecture.
