EMPIRE CREDITS

SCHEME TO BE REVISED A MATTER FOR PRIVATE ENTERPRISE. DEPARTMENTAL COMMITTEE TO INVESTIGATE. [British Official Wireless.l (Received 26, 10. 53 a.m.) 'Rugby, May 25. The future of export credits scheme, under which no new business can be accepted after September of next year unless Parliament should in the meantime decide otherwise, is likely to be considered by a Departmental Committee. Application for credits under this scheme have increased so greatly that the question as to whether the voluntary advisory committee should be relieved of some of its duties is likely to be considered, as well as the whole question of whether an export credits scheme would not now bo carried out satisfactorily by private enterprise. It is anticiepated the committee will include representatives of the business, banking, and insurance interests that have made use of the system.
