In the English Amateur Golf Championships first round, A. R. MacCallum (Southstaffor'd) beat Tolley (Royal Liverpool), five up and four to play; Oppenheimer (Royal and Ancient) beat F. Williamson (Carlisle City), three and on e to play; Major Hezlct (Royal Portrush), beat Dr. T. Weddell (Stourbridge), the holder, three and 2 to play. In the second round Gunson, the New Zealander, beat the Hon. Denys Scott (Royal North Devon), at the twentieth hole.
