AMATEUR ATHLETICS
MEETING IN HASTINGS TO-MOR-ROW. a OAKLEY AND LAW COMPETING. The Hastings Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club have received wires from Tommy Oakley and Eric Law confirming their visit to Hastings for the postponed meeting that will be held on Nelson Park, Thursday next commences at 7.45 p.m. One ot the chief items of interest to be decided will be the invitation Scratch Race, in which Eric Law, (L R. White, M. Fulford, K. Dailey, W . Huxtable are among the entrants E. Law of Dannevirkc is an unknown quantity io Hastings but is capable of extending the bust that can be produced around these parts. Cliff Sutton, the Napier cyclist, is very anxious to attempt Tommy Oakley’s 2 mile record and will have his chance in the 2 mile Handicap, in which Tommy Oakley will also hav< a rfde. The entries have been excellent ami a large programme of events will be run off. 'l’lic children’s events have been well catered for, and the executive have obtained medals for all the first prizes, given fine weather there should he a inost siivcesslul and enjoyable gathering.
