SHINGLE INSURED.
RESOURCeTuT ACTRESS. MANIAC WHO CLIPPED HER HAIR. Strange are the marvels of insurance, says an American exchange -hot long ago Mlle. Mum Gyues, one of Hungary s operatic stars and a noted beauty oi Budapest, suffered a distressing experience while attending a theatre performance. a woman sitting benind her in the stall ol the theatre suddenly reached forward, and before Mlle Gynes or anybody with her could do anything to stop her, she had clipped the gorgeous hair of the opera singer. The woman, generally oeheved to .....e h.ti a uiuuiac, made ner escape. Mlle. Gynes was disconsolate. A part of her great beauty was her hair c ortunateiy, the unknown woman had left a tew inches ol the tresses. A hairdresser did some expert work and effected a shingle which, when viewed by ixiimi m the glass, stopped her tears at once. It was an improvement. It made Mimi look more beautiful than ever The hairdresser, in honour of the event, named it the Mimi shingle, and scores of women in Budapest had their hair cut to the same length, so they could get Muni shingles. Then the thought occurred to Mimi —suppose this maniac who had cut her hair the first time should take a notion to do it again. Horrors! She went to an insurance company and insured her new shingle for 5,00 u dollars. If anybody clips her hair again sh< will collect that amount— and probably get a boyish bob. Resourceful people, those Hungarians.
