FROZEN MEAT IMPORTS.

REICHSTAG PARTIES COMPROMISE. (Received 20, 10.45 a.m.) London, March 19. It is understood in London that the Reichstag parties have compromised on the frozen meat situation by agreeing to limit the duty-free imports to 50,000 tons annually, with power to increase the tonnage if scarcity or high prices necessitate such a measure —(A. and N.Z.) Socialists demanded the total abolition of the import duties on frozen meat. Democrats declared that they could support the Bill only if the import duties were lowered. Representatives of agricultural interests demanded the abolition of the quota. The Bill was referred to the Trade and Commerce Committee.
