NANKING OUTRAGES.
COMMITTEE OF INVESTIGATION TO FIX FOREIGNERS’ DAMAGES. (Received 20. 10.45 a.m.) Shanghai, March 19. According to Chinese reports, an agreement has been reached between the British and Chinese authorities concerning the “Nanking affair” of a year ago. Following a conference between Commander Locker-Lampson and General Huangfu. the Chinese Nationalist Minister for Foreign Affairs, the British authorities hare been hitherto silent, but it is understood that a joint committee is to be appointed to investigate the tosses suffered by foreign victims of the outrages. consisting of Chinese, British and other nationals The delegates concerned in the work of the committee will decide the amounts payable as compensation.
