The troops escorting Earl Haig's coffin to Waverley station will consist of two squadrons of the Royal Scotch Greys, the 2nd Battalion or th© Cameron Highlanders its pq>© band, and an escort of the King’s Own Scottish Borderers. As the train leaves the station with the body, a salute of 19 minute guns will be fired from Edinburgh Castle. When the train arrives at the station near Dryburgh Abbey the body will bo transferred to a farm cart and escorted to the Abbey by th© employees of the late Field-Marshal. The service at the Abbey will be of a non-military character, but at its close the pipers of the Cameron Highlanders will play the Scottish dirge “Flowers of the Forest,” and buglers will sound the “Last Post.” A two minutes’ silence will follow, and then the Reveille will be sounded. The Abbey was once a temple where the Druids worshipped. It has long been ruined and Earl Haig's body will lie under the green turf which is open to the skv. The position of the grave is by th© broken wall of th© north transept. Once a year onlv is a service held in the Abbey, and Earl Haig often read the lesson on these occasions. REFERENCES IN CHURCHES. London, February 6. There were pulpit tributes to Earl ilaig throughout the country yesterday. People all day were passing th© coffin as it lay in St. Giles’ Cathedral, Edinburgh, at the rate of 2000 an hour. The services were curtailed and the Cathedral kept open until 10 o’clock ’n the evening to enable the great crowd to pass.
