During a very strenuous and keenly fought game between Hastings and Waipukurau, the question whether kitty was the distance was referred to the umpire and he gave it as not being the length. It was unfortunate for Waipukurau that the matter was raised. In fairness to all it must be stated that the umpire and both skips were unaware that the pegs were not the length.
