BILLS BEAD THE FIRST TIME. Wellington, Sept. 30. The Legislative Council met at 2.30 p.m. to-day. The Land for Settlemeats Amendment Bill, Countries Amendment Bill and Fungicides and insecticides Bill were received from the House, read the first time and the second time pro forma and referred to standing committees The Peel Forest Amendment Bill, Dangerous Drugs Bill and New Zealand Institute of Horticulture Bill w.ere also received from the House, and read the first time. The Council adjourned at 2.35 p.m. until Wednesday next.
