Since the inception of the Hastings Women’s Community Club, stea. progress has been made, and the decision of the committee to enlarge the present lounge room has met with general approval. To celebrate the opening of the larger room an even, ing for members and friends will be held on Friday. October 7, when an interesting programme has been arranged, those having promised to assist being Mesdnmes Barley, Whitlock, Robertson and Hunter, and Misses Large, Steele and Joan Evans, Canon McLean and Dr. Reeve. The Wellington City Council has decided to send Mr. R. E. Herron, manager of the milk department, to America and Great Britain to inquire into the latest ideas and plant for the treatment of milk and also as to factory layout (Press Association.)
