MANDATED NAURU

ADMINISTRATOR’S REPORT PROSPERITY OF THE NATIVES. NO PUBLIC DEBT. [By Cable —Pr-ss Aesn. — Copyright.] (Received 30, 10.20 a.m.) Canberra, Sept. 30. The annual report of the administrator of Nauru, tabled in the House of Representatives, shows the chief endeavour of the Government has been to promote, in the terms of the mandate, the material and social progress of the inhabitants. The progress made is very encouraging. The people are much more prosperous and this has brought about a higher standard of living and an intelligent interest in island affairs. An agency of the Commonwealth Savings Bank has been established and the deposits held on account of native depositors amount to over £7300. The territory has no public debt.
