TWO HORSES KILLED
TEAM HIT BY TRAIN. DRIVER’S NARROW ESCAPE. (Per Press Association). Hawera, Sept. 31). Two horses were killed at tne Patea railway yards yesterday morning when they were caught on the line by a train entering the statement when about 200 yards north of the platform The animals were part of a team of four drawing a contractor’s dray. The driver, Ernest Pullen, had a narrow escape in trying to save his team He was just able to swing the three leaders at right angles to the line when they were cut down by the engine The horses were owned by V). C. Glenny, Ltd., and valued at £7O. They were not insured.
