HOCKEY CLUB DANCE A very enjoyable dance under the auspices of the Diamond Hockey Club was held >ll the Public Hall, Porangahau, on Friday night. The hall was beautifully decorated for the occasion with the Pooteririkore Diamond, Redwing and the association’s colours. Misses A and R. Hokianga and Mr. Prebble supplied excellent music tor the dancing, and Mr F. Sidwell made an efficient M.C. During the evening several presentations were made of trophies won during the season. Mrs Siteman presented Mr. Sitemail’s Rose Bowl to Miss V. Cook, the captain of the Diamond hockey team. Mrs McMurray presented a hockey stick to Miss Hokianga, also the Tanner Cup which was won by the team. Mr. Johnston’s (Hastings! hockey stick for the most forward player during the season was won by Miss K. Hunter, RUGBY FOOTBALL. Last Saturday the Weber football team journeyed to Porangahau where they played the Pohos for the Nitschke Cup. The match ended in a win for the Pohos bv 12 points to 3. The Rev. Rangi ably controlled the game. GOLF. WAIPUKURAU LADIES’ CLUB. SATURDAY STROKE MATCH. On Saturday next the Waipukurau Ladies’ Club will hold a stroke match. The usual monthly medsl round will be postponed, until Saturday, October 8, as the New Zealand ladies’ solf championship is being played during the first week in October.
