arrest of a jockey. Auckland, Sept. 27. Jockey W. 8. Bagby, aged 20, was arrested to-day on a charge oi manslaughter in connection with the death on Monday evening of Mrs Elizabeth Short after being knocked down by a motor car. Bagby was released on bail, which was fixed at £lOOO in his own recognisance and two sureties of £5OO Mrs Short was the wife of Mr. W. 8. Short, formerly Under-Secretary of Public Works.
