MATCH FOR ENGLISH TROPHY. AN AUCKLAND PROTEST. (Per Press Association). Auckland, September 28. The Auckland Football Association was asked by the New Zealand Council to give reasons why the English Football Association trophy match between Canterbury and Auckland should not be replayed. It was decided to reply that before the match the attention of the referee and Canterbury officials was drawn to a rule which requires extra time to be played in the event of a draw. The attention of the Council is drawn to rules 12 and 13. whereby a protest or appeal must be lodged with the Council within five days cl the match in question. The Auckland Association also protested against the action of the New Zealand Council in finding Auckland ruiltv without rtivinir it an on nor tunity to tender evidence. It was stated that finance would not permit any further Auckland team touring. /
