CONSTABLE BRUTALLY MURDEIED FOUR BULLET WOUNDS IN HEAD, NO CLUES TO PERPETRATORS, (By Cable —Press Assn. — Copyrlgbt-l (Received 28, 1.30 p.m.) London, Sept. 27. Police Constable Gutteridge was brutally murdere- in a lonely Essex road and was discovered early in the morning with a pencil clutched in his hand and a note-book near. There were four bullet wounds in his head and neck, two of the bullets having been fired at a distance and the other t, ’ with the muzzle pressed close to each eye, both eyes being shattered. The police theory is that Constable Gutteridge stopped a motor car and was about to enter particulars when he was shot in the eyes, the murderers firing twice again while the policeman was on the ground. ■There are no clues to the perpetrators.—(A. and N.Z.)
