STEAM-PETROL
NEW FUEL MIXTURE. AUSTRALIANS’ CONTRIVANCE. Melbourne, Sept. 9. Relating to the fuelling of internal combustion engines by supplementing the usual curburetted hydro-carbon (petrol) fuels with water vapour aspirated (sucked in) from the cooking system or by generated steam or crankcase gases, world patents of unusual importance have been granted to Joseph A. Bradbury, of Kangaroo Flat, and Geoffrey Uebergang, of Box Hill. • Bradbury was formerly chief research chemist to the Mt. Lyell Company, and is now science master at Bendigo Technical School. Uebergang, a former teacher, is now an inspector of Saving Banks homes construction. The invention has the attractions of extreme simplicity, cheap construction and simple fitting, and under extended te.sts is said to have given quite remarkable results. Tests on three cars improved their mileage by an average of ten miles to the gallon of fuel.
