TAKAPAU

GOLF CLUB BALL

VERY SUCCESSFUL FUNCTION

The Takapau Golf Club held its first golf ball in the Town Hall on Friday evening, and it is not too much to say that the function was uniquely successful. The decorations of greenery and japonica with a roof of coloured were at tractive, and provided a suitable background for the pretty frocks that were worn by the ladies. The library room was furnished and set apart for card players, while the stage was utijised for spectators, and the verandah was furnished as a lounge. Mr Wi Duncan’s orchestra was certainly popular, and this was emphasised at times bv a quadruple encore The brunt of the work fell on the ball secretary. Mr W. Boyd, and not a small part of the success of rhe evening was to the ability and tact he showed in running affairs The ladies provided the supper, and they deserve very hearty commendation for the excellent and dainty menu provided for the artistic lay-out and the complete serving arrangements.

The evening, besides being one of the most enjoyable ever held in r.he district was also financially successful. and this was due to thg ladies taking the entire responsibility for supper refreshment.
