ANNUAL TOURNAMENT.
Palmerston N., Aug. 31.
The annual tournament of the Dominion Ladies’ Hockey Association opened this morning in brilliant spring weather. Eighteen teams are competing, coming from Southland to Auckland. The following are the results of the first games this morning
A. Section: Canterbury 3, Eastern Southland 2. The winners were somewhat lucky in their game to-day. B. Section: Poverty Bay 5, Bush Union B 0. A Section: Manawatu B 4v. Taranaki 1.
C Section: Otago 8 v. Auckland nil.
WELLINGTON v. HASTINGS.
The Wellington men’s hockey representatives arrived in Hastings last evening and played a match against the Hastings representatives at Cornwall Park this afternoon. The game was not finished when -we went to press. At half-time the score was Wellington 3, Hastings 1. Messrs. Shattky and Matthews were the referees.
