(Received 30,10.5 a.m.) London, Aug. 29.
The “Gazette’s” Paris correspondent reports that Marshal Foch has nearly completed his memoirs of the Great War but the book will not be published during his life time, as he says memoirs might displease certain people, “because I do not give them as great a part as they expect.
“I have refused a fortune for
the memoirs; truth is more to me than money.
My decision to write them was prompted by the way history has arranged that everybody won the Baltic of the Marne except Joffre.” — (A. and N.Z,)
