TWO MOTOR SMASHES.

REMARKABLE ESCAPES. CARS COMPLETELY WRECKED. Dunedin. July 14. In two motor smashes which occurred today there were remarkable escapes from serious injury. A’ car driven bv Thos. Woolley, a married man. was crossing from the correct to the wrong side of the road in Princes street south, when it narrowly missed a serious collision with a tramcar. A second tram was quickly on it. however, and a headOn collision occurred. The motor was completely wrecked, and the front portion of the tram was damaged. A “break-down” ea/ had to be <ised to pull the motor away from the tram. When the driver of the motor was extricated from the tangled mass of wreckage it was found that he was suffering from injuries to the head. He was removed to hospital, hut his injuries are not regarded as serious. The second collision occurred n City road. Roslyn. A head-on smash occurred between a car driven bv Ernest Scanlan and a taxi driven bv Arthur Clark The former was thrown on to the foot na th. where i overturned. The drivers and two passengers in the taxi wore uuburi. Both rars wore badlv snip shod.
