POWER BOARD LINES PROTEST FROAI OWNER. With the erection of its reticulating lines in the various county area s the Hawke's Bay Power Board has ueen obliged to remove trees, in many cases not without protests from the owners A further case came bewre the board yesterday when a Mangateretere settler claimed £lO per tree for six willow trees cut down ms property nea r the school. The secretary (Mr Wylie) informed the meeting that the owner tailed upon him lodging a complaint. With the chairman an inspection was made, it being found that while some of the trees were all right, others‘were
rotten. Air, T. E. Crosse: I think they arc all rotten. Air, Wylie explained mat some ol the trees were topped by the board’s men, but those complained of were cut down because the men would not risk climbing them, being so rotten. Mr. Crosse*. 1 owned them once and know what they are like. They have been rotten for years. The board decided not to accept my liability.
