GOLF.
DANNEVIRKE CLUB. The Dannevirko Golf Club Holds its second annual tournament on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, August 4th, sth, and 6th. The first tournament held by the club last year attracted—quite a number of prominent golfers and the course won the commendation of Mr R. C. Kirk, president of the New Zealand Golf Council. Tne course is generally acknowledged as « sporting one and excellently adapted to winter golf. The town offers firstclass hotel accommodation. The main event, the Southern Hawke's Bay championship, carries with it a aandsonie challenge cup presented by Mrs H. Holden. Kupi Tareha is the present holder and he will probably defend his title. Entries close on Monday, August Ist. Programmes and full particulars may be obtained from the tournament secretary Mr J. Cooper, Dannevirke.
