Hearne took three wickets for 51.— (A. and N.Z.) The New Zealanders are at Lord’s watching the above game. They commence a match with Civil Service at Chiswick commencing on July 16.
“PATSY” HENDREN AS COACH. (Received 14, 1.50 p.m.) London, July 13. E. (Patsy) Hendren has accepted a coaching engagement with the South Australian Cricket Association for one season, to be renewable by subsequent agreement.—(A. and N.Z.) • I Hitherto Hendren has not accepted coaching engagements outside of England on account of having been engaged in the winter time as a professional Soccer player. He has, however, reached the mid-thirties, and finds Soccer too strenuous, and he made his last appearance as a professional player in the Brent-ford-Newport County match in April. Speaking to an interviewer on the subject, he said he had decided to retire from the Soccer game while in his prime rather than wait until he was forced to give way to a younger man. “Patsy,” as he is known, conducts an indoor cricket and sports training school at Acton, which he has arranged to be kept going in his absence.
