OBITUARY.

CHARLES C. WOODS

Word has been received from Hawera of the death, in a private hospitalfi after a painful illness, of Mr Charles Clarke Woods. He Was born at Diss, in the County oi Norfolk, England, and came to New Zealand in 1875, residing for some years in Hawke's Bay. He later went to the Huwera district, and with his brother, Sam, carried on a threshing and harvesting contracting business until dairying began to be popular in the province, when he commenced farming. He retired a few years ago and went to live in Huwera. He was of genial temperament and was highly respected and general regret was expressed when the news of his death was announced. He was a generous contributor to charitable objects. He was not married.
