HOBBS’ GREAT RECORD. HUNDREDTH CENTURY SCORED (British Official Wireless). (Received 13, 11.15 a.m.) London, July 12. Hobbs, the Surrey cricketer, today set up a new record by scoring his hundredth century for Surrey and his one hundred and forty-second

century in first-class cricket. Playing against Kent, at Blackheath, he made 121. Hobbs is the first batsman tio complete his hundred centuries for his county team. BIG SCORES IN COUNTY GAMES. BATES’ 200 NOT OUT. (Received 13, 12.30 p.m.) London, July 12. Rain interfered with most of the county cricket matches. Kent, in the first innings made 467—Ashdown 56, Chapman 113, Legge 104, Longfield 72. Surrey in the first innings made 245—Hobbs 121. In the bowling Freeman took six for 85 and Capes four for 48. In the second innings they made 126 for two wickets. Kent won on the first innings. Hobbs scored his lUOth century in first-class cricket, the first batsman to reach his 100th for a county.

Lancashire in the first innings made 297—Makepeace 92, Sibbles 51. In the second they made 50 with out loss Hampshire made 139—Brown 55; bowling, Tvldesley took three for 6 and McDonald four for 67. In the second innings they made 207— Brown 75; bowling, McDonald took seven for 7&. Lancashire won by 10 wickets.

Notrs in the first innings made 343—Whysall 114. Yorkshire in the first made 320—Sutcliffe 169. Notts won on the first innings. Bowling for Essex against Northants, Palmer took five for 53 and Russel] five for 32. Essex won. For Sussex against Gloucester, Bowley made 220. Bowling for Gloucester, Parker took six for 67. Sussex won.

For Glamorgan against Worcester, Bates made 200 not out. Bowling, Mercer took six for 63. For Worcester. Higgins made 123. Glamorgan won.

Bowling tor Derby against Leites, ter, Storer took five for 66. For Leicester, Geary took six for 18. Leicester won.
