BOWLING.

ANNUAL MEETING. WAIBEKE - CLUB. The Wairere Bowling Club held its annual meeting in the pavilion last night with a good attendance of members. Mr. F. Houston presided in the absence of the president, Mr. E. P. Smyrk, who has left the district. The annual report and balance sheet were unanimously adopted. The report showed that the past year had been a very successful one from all points of view. Financially the c'ub had never been in a better position. This had been made possible by the generosity of some of the members and the special donations received from the Ladies’ Croquet Club, who had raised the sum of £47 during the year. Club competitions had been very keenly contested. The club was one of the runners-up in the Champion Fours competition, and the New Year tournament was won by a rink skipped by a member of the club. Regret was expressed at the death of Mr. Sinclair Johnson during the year. Mr. Joliusun had been a very highly

respected and generous member of the club.

The following received trophies won during the year.—Champion Singles, K. Thomas; Handicap Pairs, T Bowe and G. W. Venables; -aturday rinks, A. Houston, J. Black, H. Ferguson nd B. Thomas.

The following officers weer elected: President, Mr. H. Benton; vice-presi-dents, Messrs. T. Bowe, H. Newbigin, J. Gray; secretary, Mr. R. Thomas (re-elected); treasurer, Mr. B. C. G. Runciman; auditor, Mr. W. Rose; selector, Mr. H. Newbigin; committee, Messrs. Hastings, Houston, Rood, Venables, Angus; representatives to East Coast Centre, Messrs. Hastings and Thomas.

It was decided to carry on club competitions on the same lines as last year.

Votes of thanks to the Ladies’ Croquet Club, the green supervisor (Mr. T ’enton), and the press, closed the meeting.
