Sir, —Mr. Beamish has tA.ir.inly started something. Everyone agrees with all the boosting that has bben given to a number of well-kfiown Hastings-ites, but what of one man who gave his heart and soul for the betterment of Hastings and its inhabitants? I to the late L. W. Fowler. With Mr. Fowler, right was might and he carried his points, after a lot of opposition. Public memory is very snort, but old-timers and some of the new-timers do not need to be reminded of his very active work on various public bodies. The late Mr. Fowler was always so busy helping lame dogs over stiles that he forgot to help himself. “The noblest work of God, an honest mwn,° and nobody can say me nay.—l am. etc., LOYAL.
