A SUGGESTION.
(To the Editor.) Sir, —In conjunction with the fund opened for unemployment, would it not be possible to arrange a rood depot, where gifts of meat, bread, jam and other articles could be sent for distribution among those wno are needing such help? Many people know there are cases of distress, but if thev are not aware of where tne individuals live, the desire to render practical assistance cannot be put into effect. Quite a n-xiber of residents would be willing to contribute in the direction mentioned if a responsible committee were in existence to apportion same.
During the influenza epidemic a similarly organised effort achieved magnificent results, and homes were reached bv a band of voluntarv workers who rendered devoted labour in a time of stress and suffering. Could not their praiseworthj,- endeavours to alleviate distress be emulated bv others in connection with the present period of unemplovment?—l am. etc.. CITIZEN.
