A big euchre tournament will be held in the Hastings Assembly Hall on Thursday evening. Valuable prizes will he given. The Hastings Hibernian Society’s ball takes place in the Assembly Hall to-morrow (Wednesday) evening. There will be euchre for card players and a waltzing competition. An auction sale of motor and engineering plant will be held on the premises of Mr. Greig Nielsen, Waipawa, on Saturday, August 28. The Waipawa Auctioneering Company are the auctioneers. The sale commences at 10.30 a.m.

Farmers and others interested are reminded of the meeting to be held in the Hawke’s Bay Jockey Club’s rooms, Hastings, to-morrow afternoon to consider the desirability of Tangerim lucerne growing as a protection against drought, Mr Macpherson (late New Zealand Government lucerne expert) will address the meeting. A large attendance is anticipated.
