(Received 23, 9.55 a.m.) Sydney, Aug. 23. . While endeavouring to arrest twe men suspected of theft, *t Lithgow, a constable was compelled to draw his revolver to protect himself. After challenging one man who was making for him with an upraised bottle, he fired a bullet, which entered the man >» neck.
