LENGED. LADY ASTOR’S OFFER ACCEPTED.
London, Aug. 21. Lady Astor, in December, challenged auy British Socialist doing lip service to the Soviet regime to put ms faith, to the proof by going to live in Russia, offering to pay the lares of any acceptor. James Morton, aged 48, ironnioulder, of Liverpool, has accepted the offer and sails tor Leningrad during the week-end with his wife and two children. Morton says; -Things may be a bit thin over there, but they cannot he leaner than here. Though 1 am a skilled man I only draw 62/6 weekly. I think myself lucky compared with other skilled workers in the engineering trade. J have been unemployed or on half-time since 1921 As secretary of the Liverpool Halids Off Russia Committee, I know something of the conditions of workers The State is in a Btage of transition.
