FIGHTING IN NICARAGUA.
REBELS BADLY BEATEN. Managua, Aug. 20. The revolutionists were badly' beaten at Tamarindo, a village on the Pacific coast. Many were killed and wounded and others are in flight. They abandoned ten machine guns, 700 rifles, 500,000 rounds of ammunition and other supplies. A Mayor and several non-comba-tants are reported to be killed. The rebels evacuated the burned part of Quezalquaque, including the largest distillery in Nicaragua. The Government forces were conscripted. There were no exemptions. They reoccupied San Marcos after a sharp skirmish. The rebel losses are said to be severe.—(Reuter.)
