EDEN BY-ELECTION.
FIXED FOR APRIL 15. The writ lor the Eden election was issued to-day. The by-election is to take place on April 15. ThTe Prime Minister, in sending his | best wishes to Sir James Gunson, reaffirms his endorsement and approval of Sir James Gunson’s candidature, and expresses the wish -that all the party’s supporters in the Eden district will settle all personal and sectional differences and present a united front to the opposing forces. THE LABOUR CANDIDATE. Auckland, March 26. The Labour candidate lor Eden, Mr. H. G. 11. Mason, delivered his first address at Henderson. The night was wet and only about 30 were present. The candidate said the most interesting feature of the election so far was the differences which had arisen in the Reform party’s rank?. He referred to the Government’s overwhelming majority and urged the electors to strengthen the Opposition. Labour was the real Opposition. A. vote .of thanks and confidence was carried.
