SEQUEL TO STABBING. Dunedin, March 26. James Patrick Reid was charged at the Cromwell Magistrate’s Court yesterday, before two justices of the peace, with, on March 6, at Makarora, having attempted to murder bv wounding George Adams in the stomarch with a butcher’s knife. According to the evidence, Reid and Adams had been to a cricket match together, and had had a few drinks, although Adams said they were both sober. Adams attempted to doublebank Reid to the flaxmill where they worked, but owing to the rough nature of the ground they continually fell off, and Reid started to knock the bicycle about. Adams remonstrated, and Reid took offence and endeavoured to hit him, and went along by himself. Adams mot him again at the cookhouse, and Reid continued his aggression, threatening to blow Adams up. Adams later left with a companion for his hut. and while they were there they heard a noise, and Adams opened the door and was stabbed in the left side bv Reid, who told him that he had got him and that he had aimed for the heart. Accused plead**! not eir'lty, and was committed for trial. Bail was allowed .in £3OO and two sureties of £l5O each.
