CHURCH NOTES.

There will be a Christmas service at the Salvation Army on Friday evening at 7.30 p.m.; also on Sunday next at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m.. when a number of new soldiers will he enrolled. This is a very solemn and sacred service, and a welcome is extended to all to attend. There will also be a welcome to the newcomers and visitors. A special children’s service will be hold at the Stortford Mission .Hall on Sunday at 2.30. Miss Martin will give an address, and the children will also render special Christinas hymns. The evening service at 7 will be conducted by Messrs. Bell and Rodgers. Special ’Xmas Day services will he held in St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church on ’Xmas Day at 10.45. The Rev. P. Ramsay will give “a talk.’’ The new stop on the organ will be used for the first time in the junior choir carol. The Sunday services at 11 and 7 o’clock will be conducted by the Rev. H. B. Hughes, M.A., B.D. ’ New carols from England will be sung at the close of the evening service. A special gift offering in aid of debt reduction will be received at each service. Tlie services in St. Matthew’s Church, Hastings, on ’Xmas Day will be Communion at 6 a.m., 7 a.m. and 8 a.m. ; choral eucharist and sermon at U a.m. : carol service at 7.30, at which the Christmas cantata “The Holy Child" will be rendered. '1 he subject of the address at the - Orange Hall on Sunday night will be, “Bible Teaching Concerning Hell," when the current doctrine of eternal torments will be examined and Bible teaching concerning the punishment of tho wicked shown. A service will be held in the Hastings Methodist Church at 7 o’clock on Christmas morning. As is usual, the offertory will be in aid of the MethoJist Orphanage at Masterton. On Sunday next the Rev. F. Copeland will preach at J on “The Crowned Vear,” and at 7 p.m. on “Marred, and j Made Again.” Visitors will be' cordially welcomed. There will be a ’ service at Whakatu at 2.30 p.m. :
