DUNEDIN SCRATCHING. Dunedin, Dec. 21. Winkle’s Best has been scratched for the Otago Handicap of the Dunedin races. SCRATCHINGS. Auckland. Dec. 24. Master O’Rorke was scratched for the Railway Handicap at 11.50 to-day. Money Order was scratched for all engagements at 12.15 noon. PAHIATUA RACING CLUB. The annual meeting of the above club will be held on Wednesday and Thursday, January 27 and 28. Nominations for all events, including Maiden Race, close with the secretary (Mr. J. G. Swainson) at Pahiatua at 9 p.m. on Friday. January 8, at 9 p.m. The telegraph office at Pahiatua closes at 5 p.m.
CRICKET AND TENNIS. FINE IN CANTERBURY. Christchurch, Dec. 24. The weather is beautifully fine here and the prospects for the cricket match Otago v. Canterbury, and the New Zealand tennis championships are excellent. The latter begin on Saturday on the lawns of the United Club.
