ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.

As the result of a collision between a steam tram and a motor van at Takapuna yesterday afternoon, two boys, Herbert and Leslie Calder, were admitted to hospital suffering from injuries to the head and body. It is that the motor van. on which the two boys were sitting alongside the driver, was moving across the rails into the main road when it was struck lull on by the engine of the tram and capsized.* The driver was uninjuired.

The little girl Doreen Walsh, who was injured in a motor. accident on Monday afternoon at New Plymouth, died in hospital at an early hour yesterday morning. Deceased, who was aged 3£-. was crossing the road with Gladys O’Dea. aged 6 yeais and nine months, when they were struck by a motor car. the impact killing the girl O'Dea and inflicting grave injuries on the girl Walsh, who lingered in hospital till early yesterday morning. At the inquest a verdict to the effect that dsath was due to injuries received, through being struck by a motor car driven bv T. JI. Lovegrove. They added that they were of opinion that there was no blame attachable to anyone* They extended their sympathy to the parents of the children and also to Lov egrove.

At about 6.30 n.m. yesterday, a car, owned by Mr. P. Sullivan, of Kaiwaka, but driven by another person, got into difficulties rounding Hyderabad road opposite the brick works, and finished up by going through the fence on to the old railway embankment. The car was considerably damaged, but no one was hurt.

The relief express from Dunedin last night crashed into a motor delivery van at One Tree Point. James Wyeth, butcher, driver of tho van, was thrown to the side ot the railway and was removed to hospital with a broken leg. a scalp wound and a dislocated shoulder. He is progressing favourably.
