HOLY YEAR.
WORK OF HIS HOLINESS. Rome, Dec. 22. Holy Year has made heavy demands on the Pope, who received 750.000 pilgrims and distributed 800,000 Holy Year medals. He has worn over 3000 birettas. each of which he put on for a brief period and returned to the owners. He has preached 1080 sermons and is repoited to have deposited in an American bank £1.000.000 in Holy Year contributions.—(A and N.Z.)
