APPEALS DISMISSED.

DUTIES OF DONKEYMEN. Auckland, Dec. 22. The Abitration Court delivered, its decision in the appeals by the Federated Seamen’s Union and W. T. Young, I nion secretary, against the decision of Mr. C. E. Cutton. S.M., in proceedings arising out ol the action of the donkermen on coastal vessels refusing to operate valves or other machinery following on the issue of a circular by the secretary ol tho union, in the opinion of tlie Court the decision of the magistrate was sound, and the appeals wore disallowed, with five guineas costs to respondent in each case. The circumstances, it was held, constituted a strike within the meaning of section 3 of the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Amendment Act. 1908. and the strike was clearly instigated by the union and the other two a ppc 11 a nts.
