ENTRIES CLOSED FRIDAY. SPLENDID RESPONSE. Entries closed on Friday night for tno various contests in connection with the 1925 Alardi Gras. 'l’liis particularly applies to tho boxing and tug-of-war entries, so that arrangements maj’ b“ made well in advance.

With the exception of the boxing splendid entries have been received. As a doubt seems to exist in some competitors’ minds, that the contest* are for novices only, or on the other hand for open contests only, it has been decided to include both classes if sufficient inducement offer?. The pram ana push cart section has not tilled so well, and further entries are solicited for that section, and the trolly carts and displays. Entries can be taken lor tho baby parade right up till time of starting, hut after to-day it is not possih’e to have further names printed in the official programme. The tug-of-war has produced splendid results, there being ton entries in the boys’ section under 15 years, including outside entries from Westshoro. Clive. Whakatu and Taradale. The Napier teams will indeed have to look to their laurels. Then in the under 18 class, wo have six teams, with more in view. I’hcso include AA’estshore Clive and Port Diehards. The boys’ items, such as s’ow push bike race, tyre race, laughing contest, and bun fight have tilled in great style, and splendid entertainment assured. There have been no entries so far for the mouth organ solo, so hoys are urged to call and record their names early. The children’s procession is assured of success, so good are the entries. Anyone may enter right up until starting time, but their names will not non De available on the programme. Fifteen children have entered in tho prettiest boy and gi’l contest, 16 guts in the skipping, six girls and ladies in the long hair section, and only three m the bobbed hair class. I Tho dog parade has filled well, about 20 dogs’ names being handed in, with more to follow. All dog lovers arc invited to participate. Entries are needed for the spelling bee. as only a few have so far come to i "hr. adults' fancy costume section and narasol parade. There are no dark-haired boys entered vet for the pretty hoys. Next Saturday is the day of days and Napier can look forward to a time of joy and happiness, ot mirth, music and entertainment for the million at the minimum of expense, viz., adults Is for all dav and night, and children Gd. '
