HASTINGS MEMORIAL HOSPITAL.
(To the Editor.) ■ Si Tj —Tn reference, to Mr L. W. Fowler’s letter in your Wednesday’s issue regarding the above. It is pleasing to know that at least one member oii the Hospital Board is determined to b>-in<.- the erection of the Memorial Hospital” to a final point, . -It is nearly a quarter of a. century since the question of a hospital for Hastings was first broached by Mr George Ellis, one time Mayor'of this town, he was one of the -few public men who had a vision of the future prosperity of Hastings. Mr Ellis was never divorced from his opinion. When a hospital for this town was first .suggested, loans Were difficult to iinahec, oven money for urgent municipal works was hard to raise. This muv in a measure, account tor the long period of inaction. Since, however, the birth of the Memorial Hospital took shape, it has been one succession 01 I blunders, and set-backs, which possibly could not be forsecn. It is to be hoped the hen. medical staff will noi erect a further barrier to retard the erection of this much wanted hospital. —I am, etc., 1 GET A MOVE ON. Hastings, 18/12/25.
